The West Salem Fire Department is run by a dedicated group of volunteers. The Volunteer Firemen’s Association of West Salem raises funds to purchase vital equipment for our Fire Department. They manage one of Edwards County’s largest annual events – the West Salem Freedom Festival, and co-sponsor a number of other community events including the annual Trees on the Square and Easter Egg Hunt. They also provide college scholarships to area High School Students. They do all this in addition to showing up to fight fires, and assist with emergency medical runs in our community.
