Tornado Warnings and Storm Sirens

The tornado sirens will be sounded for the entire county when the National Weather Service issues a tornado warning for any location in Edwards County, or when any law enforcement officer visually verifies a tornado.

  • When the sirens are activated, they will cycle for six minutes. Following a two minute break, the sirens will again cycle for six minutes.

When the National Weather Service advises the warning has been cancelled or the warning expires, an “All Clear” will be sounded.

  • The “All Clear” will consist of the sirens cycling for 30 seconds, a one minute break, cycling for 30 seconds, a one minute break, and cycling for another 30 seconds.

The Public is also reminded that the sirens are tested at 10:00 AM on the first Tuesday of every month.
