Exciting things are about to begin at Mill Pond Park! Construction is scheduled to being in the next two weeks on the two existing tennis courts. The west tennis court is being converted into two pickle ball courts, and the east tennis court is having new posts installed. You will be able to raise and lower the new net to play tennis or volleyball. New fencing, lighting, as well as a new ADA parking area will be added to the park. The tennis courts will be temporarily closed during construction, we apologize for the inconvenience. Weather permitting, the new courts will be completed by late this summer.
Last year, the Village of West Salem was awarded an Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) Grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources for $44,253.00. A matching contribution of $46,250.00 is being added to this grant, for a total investment in the park of $90,503.00.
