The Village of West Salem’s Board met on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 6:30 PM. Highlights from the meeting include:
- The Mayor thanked everyone involved with the ‘Annual Trees on the Square’ event. Thirty-eight (38) trees decorated by individuals, families, non-profit organizations, and area businesses were simultaneously lit on Saturday, November 30th. The trees will remain lit through January 1, 2025. More information, and photos of the trees can be found on the Village’s website.
- The Board approved the selling of a 3008-2 Bush Hog Rotary Mower which it is no longer using. The Bush Hog will be put up for auction at the Mt. Erie Ruritan Farm Equipment Auction to be held on January 20, 2025.
- The Board approved placing a Referendum on the April 1, 2025 ballot which will ask the voters to approve the purchase of a new fire truck for the Village. The age of the fire departments equipment impacts the Village’s Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating. The ISO rating determines homeowner insurance rates. Ordinance 2024-16 can be found here.
- The Clerk announced that the 2025 Neighborhood Vehicle Permits are now available for purchase. The permits are $30.00 and are good from January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2025. Permits are required for golf cart type vehicles driven on village streets.
