The Village of West Salem’s Board met on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 6:30 PM. Here are the highlights from the meeting:
- Announcements regarding the upcoming fall activities in West Salem.
- The Fall Fun Festival will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 3PM to 6PM on the Square (100 South Street, West Salem, IL).
- A Costume Contest and Trunk-or-Treat event will begin at 5PM on Friday, October 31, 2025 on the Square.
- Trick-or-Treat Hours in West Salem are Friday, October 31, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
- The Village was notified by the Edward County Council on Aging that they would be turning over the keys to the West Salem Senior Center on Friday, October 31, 2025. Once the building is empty, the Board will determine next steps for the building.
- The Board voted to accept the Illinois Municipal League’s Risk Management Association Insurance proposal.
- The Board approved the purchase of new tires for the police squad car from JJ Truck and Trailer Repair of West Salem.
- Board approved the purchase of a computer tower for the Fire Department from PC Doctors of Grayville.
- The Board discussed the Village’s Levy requests for FY2026. The Levy Ordinances will be voted upon at the November 24, 2025 meeting.
- The Board approved the ‘Annual Trees on the Square’ event on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 5:00 PM. This event is sponsored by the West Salem Development Association and will be held on the Village Square (100 South Street, West Salem, IL). The decorated trees will remain on display through January 1, 2026.
