The Village of West Salem’s Board held a Special Village Board Meeting on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 3:00 PM. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the appointment of a new trustee, determine how to proceed with the Senior Center Building, approve an Ordinance for Membership in the Illinois Municipal League Risk Management Association, and to discuss and/or approve a Return-to-Work policy.
- The Board approved the appointment of Tom Smith as Trustee. Mr. Smith will be sworn in before the next Village Board meeting scheduled for November 24, 2025. He is filling the seat of the late Karl August Case.
- The Board decided to sell the building at 108 W. South Street. The Village had been leasing the building to the Edwards County Council on Aging (ECCOA) to use as the West Salem Senior Center. ECCOA requested to be released from the lease earlier this year due to funding issues. The Village will publish a notice in the next few weeks that it will be accepting sealed bids for this commercial property.
- At their October meeting, the Board selected the insurance proposal offered by the Illinois Municipal League’s Risk Management Association. To implement this insurance program the Board approved an Ordinance authorizing membership into the Illinois Municipal League Risk Management Association, and a Return-to-Work-Policy.
