The monthly meetings of the West Salem Volunteer Fire Department are open to the public. Meetings are held at the Fire Station next to Village Hall.

Village Hall will open at 1:00 PM to allow staff to attend the funeral of Village Trustee Karl August Case. https://westsalemil.com/news/the-village-of-west-salem-mourns-the-lost-of-trustee-karl-august-case/  

Village Hall will be closed for Christmas on  Monday, October 13, 2025 for Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day. Utility Payments may be made online,  or placed in the mail slot just to the east of the entrance doors of Village Hall.

Special Village Board Meeting to discuss municipal insurance proposals. All Board meetings are open to the public.

Bulk pick-up for items not normally taken on the weekly trash day.  Please bag or box trash when possible. Mattresses and box springs must be wrapped in plastic. The monthly meetings of the West Salem Village Board of Trustees are open to the public.

Official ‘Trick-or-Treat’ hours for the Village of West Salem are 4:00PM to 8:00PM on Friday, October 31, 2025. Residents: If you wish to welcome trick-or-treaters – please leave your front porch light on. Trick-or-Treaters: Please only visit houses that have a front porch light on.  

A Community costume Contest and Trunk-or-Treat event sponsored by the Friends of the West Salem Public Library and the Volunteer Firemen's Association of West Salem will be held on Halloween. Costume Contest begins at 5:00 PM Trunk-or-Treat will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
