First day of school for Edwards County School District #1. This includes West Salem Grade School and Edwards County High School.

A weekly Farmer’s Market held on Friday mornings throughout the Summer. Vendors vary from week to week, but typically include Bullard’s Farm Market and Bakery out of Fairfield. While you are here, be sure to check out Carter Farms Country Market on the north end of the Square, too.

This year's event will include a parade, live music, and of course Chowder! 9:30 AM: Parade  (Church Street to the Square) 10:30 AM: Bulk Sale of Chowder begins 11:00 AM -1:00 PM: Live Music and Vendor Fair

Village Hall will be closed on Monday, September 2, 2024 in Observance of Labor Day.

The public opening of construction bids for the Mill Pond Project in West Salem. This project is being funded in part through a Open Space Land Acquistion and Development grant by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

An extra trash pick-up for items not normally taken on the weekly trash day pick-ups!  Please bag or box trash when possible. Mattresses and box springs must be wrapped in plastic.
