The Village of West Salem’s Board held a Special Village Board Meeting on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 6:30 PM. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss insurance proposals, approve the cost of repairs to a waste-water lift station, and to approve the Village’s participation in the Oak Savanna Tree Planting Project.
- The Board Discussed insurance proposals from Blank’s Insurance, and from the Illinois Municipal League. Both companies made initial presentations at the September 22, 2025 Board Meeting. Both plans offered coverage for property, automobiles, equipment, as well as liability insurance. The Board had questions after reviewing and comparing the proposals, and will reach out for clarification. They are hoping to have the information before the next board meeting (October 27, 2025), so that a decision can be made at that time.
- The Village Board approved a $16,959.00 quote from Staffer Pump & Supply to repair a waste-water lift station.
- The Board approved Resolution 2025-R in support of the Oak Savanna Tree Planting Project. The Illinois Extension 4-H Foundation, the Association of Illinois Soil and Water Conservation Districts, and Illinois Forestry Development Council are partnering on this statewide project. If selected as a project site, the Village will receive 25 Oak Trees which will be planted at Four Corners Park in West Salem.
